Client: United Drug
Location: Dublin
Product: Mezzanine Floor, Mesh Decking, Pallet Racking, Carton Live Storage, Steel Partitioning, Shelving
United Drug plc is the largest pharmaceutical wholesaler in Ireland, providing services to pharmaceutical retailers and manufacturers. Its new purpose built ‘best-in-class’ distribution facility centralises its medical/scientific businesses.
Located on a 15 acre site in south Dublin, the facility handles over 30,000 line items in a variety of storage solutions, including Wide Aisle & Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) Pallet Racking, Carton Live Storage, Shelving and Longspan shelving .
Allied worked with United Drug on the multi-million euro project from its award to final implementation. Allied provided a complete range of pallet racking systems and accessories, our unique ‘Hi-Dek’ mezzanine floor system, mesh decking panels throughout the lower beam levels of the pallet racking, carton live storage and steel partitioning systems. To complete the project, Allied installed mesh security enclosures, anti collapse mesh safety screens, rack end barriers, upright protectors and indentification signage and labelling.
Our team of engineers and installation crews assembled the various storage solutions on site and completed the project on time, ensuring all safety standards were met.
With our Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) system, pallet racks were placed closer together to optimise space. The VNA was designed with a width of 1800mm creating up to 45% more floor space than a wide aisle solution.
Conveyor systems formed an integral part of the warehouse and distribution facility. Their integration into the racking and shelving storage systems increased efficiency and throughput.Carton Live storage or ‘flow racking’ operates where stock needs to be hand-loaded and picked. Inclined levels of roller tracks, set in storage bays, allow goods to roll down dedica ted lanes within the levels, from the loading to the picking face. By incorporating Allied’s live storage systems, order picking times were reduced and errors minimised.
Allied’s project team consisted of our CAD Designers, Engineers, Contracts Managers and Installation Crews, all overseen by a Project Director. Using the most sophisticated design tools, Allied produced a bespoke turnkey solution for this state of the art facility.
